Do we learn anything from past Christmases?
What is really the true meaning of Christmas? A season to be merry, to be silly, to be romantic and to indulge in unlimited excess. Then wake up after New Year's Day and wonder what was that all about?
Ever year, we promise to have a more sensible Christmas, no excesses. Words, just words.
But times are really bad, economically. Does this put a big dent on all our wishes for the season?
Why can we not just get together and enjoy a great meal, some stimulating conversation, listen to good music and just hang out with family and friends ? Go for a brisk walk and enjoy some fresh air.
Try to spend a few quiet moments and remember those who are missing this season, say a prayer for our loved ones who have passed? What about remembering the less fortunate?
After the frenzy is over, was it really worth the mess and the excess?
Do I wish for a quieter time, away from all the hoopla?
You bet I do!
